Senior Frontend Engineer Portugal (Full-Time)

Remote / Portugal | Time zone : Portugal and Located in Portugal | Full-time

At Luca, we’re building the next generation of learning tools for Latin America. We create AI-powered educational products that blend smart design, engaging content, and beautiful technology—used by thousands of students, parents, and schools across the region.

We’re looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer with strong experience in both web and mobile development to join our team. If you care about performance, interaction design, and user impact—and want to help build the tools that shape how kids learn—you’ll love this role.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll work cross-functionally with :

  • Backend developers to integrate APIs for web and mobile
  • UX / UI designers to ensure design consistency across devices
  • AI engineers to deliver intelligent and adaptive features
  • QA engineers to maintain performance across all form factors
  • Project managers to prioritize and deliver in rapid cycles

Your Responsibilities

Advanced Frontend Development

  • Build high-performance, mobile-first interfaces using React
  • Create reusable design systems and component libraries
  • Ensure excellent user experience across web and mobile

    • Gamification & Interactive Systems

  • Implement rewards, progress tracking, and achievement systems
  • Build real-time chat and collaborative learning features
  • Integrate external APIs and dynamic content from AI engines

    • Mobile Engineering Expertise

  • Use React Native to build and maintain mobile experiences
  • Optimize for performance on low- and mid-range devices
  • Ensure responsive design and offline-first behaviors where needed

    • Technical Execution

  • GraphQL : queries, mutations, and subscriptions
  • Node.js for backend integration and shared logic
  • Apply SRE principles for frontend observability and reliability

    • What We’re Looking For

  • 10+ years in frontend development, with strong mobile experience
  • Deep expertise in React, GraphQL, Node.js, and React Native
  • Proven track record of building cross-platform applications
  • Strong product and design intuition
  • Portfolio of complex, high-impact user interfaces
  • Team player with technical leadership capabilities
