English Teacher / Professor / a de Inglês

FIXE School is looking for passionate English teachers to join our team, starting in March / April 2023.

FIXE School :

Our school kicked off its operations in 2019, a few months before the pandemic kicked in. We were forced into an unknown world (for us) of online teaching, and both our students and us liked it so much we haven’t moved back to in-person lessons.

Our efforts to provide a meaningful learning experience to our students were rather fruitful, allowing the school to expand and have students all over Portugal, and beyond.

Despite being a rather young school, we have the ambition of being a key player in our clients’ personal and professional development. Our clients are mostly teenagers, adults, and businesses.

The Offer and the person :

We seek someone who is professional, communicative, dynamic and team-spirited. Capable of working online and in-person (when need be), being able to adapt methods to either setting and target group.

The offer is designed for a full-time (35h / week) teaching position, but it can be adapted to part-time if agreed on. The working hours are composed of about 25 hours / week of teaching and 10 / 15 hours / week of pedagogical material development and / or preparation of lessons.

In the first two weeks training will be provided to the teacher(s) recruited, in order to learn and become confident in using our teaching method.

Our lessons are mostly held online. We also deliver lessons at some of our business clients premises and from time to time we run some in-person courses.

Working conditions, salary and benefits are provided at the interview.

The first months of employment are based on “Recibos Verdes” (freelancing) and there is a possibility of signing a fixed-term contract in September / October.

Qualifications and Requirements :

• Excellent level of English (Not mandatory to speak Portuguese)
• Teaching experience is an asset;
• Degree and / or TEFL / TESOL / CELTA;
• CCP is an asset, but not mandatory (Portuguese Teaching Competence Certificate);
• Callan Method experience / certification is a plus, but not mandatory;
• Experience with Cambridge Exams and IELTS is also advantageous.;
• Experience of living abroad is a plus.
