Data Engineer - up to €60,000 to €80,000 depending on experience plus 4-8x salary bonus - Lisbon, Portugal or London, United Kingdom (hybrid)

A high-growth technology unit within the renewable energy sector is seeking a Data Engineer to join its expanding digital team based in Lisbon or London. This fast-paced group is responsible for building the systems and tools that enable smarter decision-making across trading, asset management, and operations within a global clean energy portfolio.

Working at the crossroads of energy, technology, and strategy, the team delivers real-world digital solutions that directly support the transition to a low-carbon economy. The ideal candidate will be excited by the challenge of building scalable, production-ready data infrastructure to support advanced analytics and energy market applications.

Role

The Data Engineer will contribute to the design and development of a robust data platform that underpins analytical modelling, operational insights, and market forecasting tools. The role involves working closely with data scientists, analysts, and engineers to ensure that data pipelines are reliable, maintainable, and optimised for performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain scalable cloud-based data pipelines
  • Collaborate with data and engineering teams to deliver production-ready solutions
  • Support ingestion, transformation, and storage of structured and unstructured data
  • Implement best practices in testing, version control, and documentation
  • Contribute to evolving the data architecture for analytics and operational tools

Key Skills

  • Proven experience in data engineering or backend development with a focus on data systems
  • Proficient in Python, with hands-on use of libraries such as Pandas and PySpark.
  • Experience designing and maintaining cloud-based data pipelines
  • Familiarity with orchestration tools (e.g. Airflow, dbt) and version control using Git
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field
  • Strong communicator, comfortable working in collaborative, cross-functional teams
  • Practical, outcome-driven mindset with a passion for solving real-world challenges in the energy sector
