About the Role

The Topographer / Technical Preparation Engineer will provide topographical and technical support to the construction project, ensuring accurate setting-out, surveying, dimensional and elevation control, measurement of works, and technical documentation throughout project execution.

The role will work closely with Site Management and Production teams to ensure that construction activities are executed in accordance with approved designs and technical requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Analysis & Interpretation
Analyse technical projects, drawings, specifications, and construction documentation. Interpret plans, profiles, sections, and setting-out information.

Surveying & Setting-Out
Carry out topographical surveys and field measurements. Perform setting-out and marking activities required for construction works.

Dimensional & Elevation Control
Carry out dimensional, geometric, and elevation control of executed works. Perform construction measurements and quantity verification.

Conformity Verification
Verify the conformity of executed works with approved designs and technical requirements. Identify deviations, discrepancies, and technical inconsistencies and report them to Site Management.

Technical Preparation
Support technical preparation and update construction drawings.

Documentation & Reporting
Prepare measurement records, technical reports, and other project documentation.

Progress Monitoring
Monitor construction progress and support the validation of executed quantities.

Drawing Updates
Update drawings and technical documentation following changes during construction.

Stakeholder Coordination
Collaborate with Site Management, Production, Measurement, Planning, and Estimating teams.

Digital Archiving
Ensure the organisation, updating, and digital archiving of surveying and technical documentation.

Required Skills and Experience

Education
Degree or technical qualification in Surveying, Geomatics, Geographical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.

Experience
Previous professional experience as a Topographer/Surveyor within a construction environment. Experience in engineering or large-scale construction projects is valued.

Surveying Equipment
Strong knowledge of surveying equipment, particularly Total Stations and GNSS/GPS systems.

Software Skills
Good knowledge of AutoCAD and relevant surveying/data processing software.

Technical Interpretation
Strong ability to interpret technical drawings and construction documentation.

Attributes
High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to work independently in the field and collaborate effectively with site teams.

Language Skills
Advanced level of English, mandatory.

Mobility
Availability to work on-site in Viana do Castelo, Portugal.
