New Product Introduction Engineer

Baseyard is building a next-generation industrial ecosystem for defence and dual-use technologies in Portugal. Our mission is to help advanced technology companies industrialise, manufacture, and scale unmanned systems, mission critical platforms, electronics, and integrated defence technologies.

As an advanced manufacturing and industrialisation hub, BASEYARD supports customers throughout the product lifecycle, from engineering and prototyping to industrialisation, serial production, testing, and global delivery.

We are looking for a practical and hands on NPI Engineer Mechatronics to support the industrialisation and introduction of complex electromechanical products into production at our facility in Braga, Portugal.

What you will do

• Lead products through prototype, pilot and serial production readiness.
• Review designs and BOMs for manufacturability, and apply DFM, DFA and DFT.
• Develop assembly processes, work instructions and production documentation.
• Define and design tools, fixtures, jigs and test rigs.
• Build prototypes and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and integration issues.
• Implement engineering changes and support workstation design.
• Support Production during ramp up.

Who you will work with

• Engineering: improve designs based on what you learn during builds and testing.
• Production: build, set up workstations and support ramp up on the shop floor.
• Quality: define inspection points, acceptance criteria and traceability.
• Supply Chain and customers: evaluate components and suppliers, and align on technical requirements.

What you bring

• A degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or a related field.
• Hands on experience with mechatronic, robotic, automotive or aerospace products.
• The ability to read drawings, schematics and BOMs.
• Experience in NPI, manufacturing or production engineering, including DFM and DFA.
• CAD skills and strong troubleshooting ability.
• Good English and Portuguese communication skills

Nice to have

• Experience in defence, aerospace or robotics, including UAV, UGV, USV or UUV platforms.
• Experience designing fixtures and test rigs, and working with harnesses and PCB integration.
• Knowledge of GD&T, PFMEA and ISO 9001, AS9100 or AQAP.
