We’re looking for a Microsoft Systems Administrator who enjoys understanding how systems work, investigating complex issues and finding ways to make everyday operations more reliable.

You’ll work across Microsoft environments and a wider range of platforms, combining hands-on administration with troubleshooting, automation and continuous improvement.

What will you do?

• Provide second- and third-line support, investigating and resolving incidents and underlying problems.
• Implement, migrate, administer and support platforms across different technologies.
• Analyse and remediate vulnerabilities.
• Help automate recurring tasks and improve operational procedures.
• Work closely with technical teams to support services and resolve issues.
• Create and maintain clear documentation, procedures and support materials.
• Review and improve internal processes and tools.
• Participate in an on-call supporting 24/7 service coverage, alongside regular working hours.

What are we looking for?

• Experience administering Microsoft environments, including Windows client and server operating systems.
• Practical knowledge of Active Directory and the creation, deployment and management of Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
• Experience managing Remote Desktop Services (RDS) farms.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP and DNS.
• Scripting skills in PowerShell.
• Familiarity with IT service management practices and standards, such as ITIL and ISO 20000.
• A university degree.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a methodical approach to resolving problems.
• The autonomy to organise your work, the curiosity to keep learning and the communication skills to work well with others.
• A strong sense of responsibility, a focus on service quality and availability to participate in the on-call rota.

We also value

• Knowledge of cloud environments, particularly Microsoft Azure.
• Familiarity with Unix/Linux.
• Experience administering and operating SCCM and WSUS.
• Experience creating runbooks in Microsoft Orchestrator.
• Familiarity with tools and platforms such as Exchange, FortiMail, Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket, Control-M, Cisco collaboration and contact centre platforms, ADFS, SEPIO and F5.
