Safety Officer (M / F / X)

Currently, we have 3 workshops in the north of Portugal, more specifically, in Ponte de Lima, Penafiel and Santa Maria da Feira. At ATEPELI, we are committed to nurturing a safe and thriving environment for our employees. We are searching for a dedicated Safety Engineer to spearhead our safety initiatives and create a lasting impact.

As an integral part of our technical department, you will play a pivotal role in championing a culture of safety throughout the organization.

What you'll do :

• Drive the development and execution of innovative safety communication and leadership strategies, ensuring all employees are equipped with essential safety knowledge.
• Act as the primary resource for all safety-related matters, from layout and machinery to equipment, PPE, and periodic inspections.
• Conduct thorough risk evaluations and implement proactive measures to uphold regulatory standards and prevent incidents.
• Analyze workplace incidents and near misses, construct detailed cause analyses, and formulate effective preventive and corrective actions.
• Develop robust emergency response procedures and coordinate evacuation plans and teams.
• Assess and manage environmental factors such as noise, vibrations, air quality, lighting, chemical agents, and waste.
• Participate actively in HSE audits and inspections to ensure continuous improvement.
• Keep meticulous records of HSE performance indicators to inform local and head office management.
• Contribute to the global HSE committee, sharing insights and driving initiatives.

Is this position made for you?

You possess a degree in Occupational Health and Safety Engineering or a related field. You have completed the Higher Technician Course in Occupational Hygiene and Safety VI. You are a skilled communicator with exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities. You are proactive, dynamic, and results-focused, with a strong sense of teamwork. Fluency in French is required.
