What do we do?
Porto Application Center is a VWFS AG IT hub, and the first outside Germany. Here we will establish a long-term Business & IT company of 120+ FTE. Our primary goal is to service all European markets in implementing and maintaining contract management systems. Our focus is on: Core systems, satellite systems (such as document management systems, collection systems) but also extends to integrations, data, and large project organizations. For this we seek a hands‑on Solution Architect.
Objectives
Ensure that application architectures including all subcomponents are defined and described in a clear and understandable way.
We are starting this journey now; You will start by training and alignment with our Enterprise architects and establish a network with other solution architects in Europe. You will dive into complex topics within our application landscape to ensure we adhere to standards and at the same time achieve our business goals.
About you
We are looking for an enthusiastic personality who loves working with complex structures and architecture and someone who understands all application layers (functional and technical) and is able to put this in clear diagrams and can also ensure the architecture decided upon is checked on quality.
In this role, you will be responsible for
- Design scalable, secure application architectures across cloud and on‑premises ecosystems.
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architects and European Solution Architects to define future standards.
- Create clear architecture diagrams and maintain documentation in Jira/Confluence.
- Support environment setup (DNS, firewall, network concepts) aligned with Financial Services compliance (GDPR, DORA).
- Define and promote AI‑enabled solution patterns using Azure AI, M365 Copilot, and Power Platform.
- Lead discovery of AI use cases and help build a local AI competency for the Porto hub.
- Ensure solutions follow ITIL/ITSM principles and enterprise governance.
- Work closely with business analysts, product owners, infrastructure teams, vendors, and security.
- Keep application data quality in our application central repository up to date.
- Define network concept document, following our internal guidelines for network communication.

We believe that the right profile for this job should have / be
- Degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics or similar.
- Experience in large enterprise environments and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS).
- Strong architectural skills and ability to produce clear technical documentation.
- Knowledge of AI/ML concepts and hands‑on experience with AI‑powered solutions (e.g., Azure OpenAI, Cognitive Services, AI Builder, Copilot extensions).
- Familiarity with vector databases, RAG patterns, or LLM integration (nice to have).
- Experience with CI/CD, Git, APIs, SDLC, ITIL, ITSM tools.
- Understanding of secrets vaults (CyberArk, Hashicorp Vault, Azure Key Vault).
- Strong communication skills, self‑driven, analytical, and comfortable in multicultural teams.
- Experience in APM monitoring tools (like Dynatrace, Application Insight, Datadog
- Experience work in agile teams
- Possess knowledge of architectural concepts and standards and provide guidance to teams on the most effective approach to take based on the problem to be solved.
- Proactively advise and support team members in selecting optimal solutions tailored to specific challenges, ensuring alignment with best practices and organizational goals.
- Ability to plan and successfully accomplish company’s goals
