CaixaBank Corporate Finance & Capital Markets is the investment banking division of CaixaBank, with a strong integrated presence in Spain and Portugal, strengthened by the full integration of BPI - historically one of the most experienced investment banking providers in Portugal. The division has a highly skilled team across four offices in Madrid, Barcelona, Lisbon and Porto, offering a wide range of specialized services in Corporate Finance, M&A, Equity Capital Markets, Research and Sales & Trading. Which projects do we work on?
Our Portugal M&A team advises on a wide range of Mergers & Acquisitions and Corporate Finance transactions, including buy-side and sell-side mandates, joint-ventures, capital raises and strategic advisory across sectors such as renewable energy, infrastructure, telecoms, industrials and consumer goods and services.
The role
We are looking for an Associate to join our Portugal M&A team in Lisbon. The successful candidate will :
- Take an active role in both the origination and execution of transactions
- Lead day-to-day project management with clients and counterparties
- Supervise and coach junior team members
- Contribute to business develoopment and client relationship efforts.
Minimum requirements
At least three years of relevant experience at a leading investment bank, M&A boutique, Private Equity firm or the M&A department of a Big 4 accounting firmStrong academic record, with a degree in Business Administration or Engineering; a Masters in Management, Finance or Economics is preferredExcellent communication skills in English and Portuguese; Spanish is a plusStrong leadership, interpersonal and mentoring skillsProven ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and adapt to shifting prioritiesSolid experience in financial modelling and valuationStrong quantitative, analytical and organisational skillsDemonstrated interest in corporate finance, business strategy and financial markets.Key competencies
Conduct market and industry analyses, identifying main trends and assessing competitive environmentsPerform economic and financial analyses of different companies and businesses, identifying key risks, constraints and revenue / profitability driversAssist in preparing business plans and providing critical insights into industry-specific KPIsContribute to the execution of business valuations using methods such as DCF and comparable multiples, offering critical assessment of assumptions and resultsBuild and manage complex financial models, including LBO and project finance structuresPrepare and deliver presentations and reports for clients and internal useSupport the identification and evaluation of M&A opportunitiesAssist in the negotiation process, including review of transaction documents from a finance perspectiveAdvanced use of Excel, PowerPoint, Word and OutlookSkilled in financial databases such as Bloomberg, Capital IQ, Sabi and Orbis.What do we offer?
