Overview

Position : Senior Business Development Manager / Business Development Director (Launch of Specialty Ingredients). Location : Porto (Portugal) or Ghent (Belgium). Company : PFx Biotech.

PFx Biotech is driving the next frontier in advanced nutrition by harnessing biology and precision fermentation to develop and launch bioactive specialty proteins. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Business Development Manager or Business Development Director to lead our commercial efforts in developing, scaling, and commercializing the protein portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Market Development : Work with top management to develop and implement market development and expansion strategies; analyze and penetrate new markets to position PFx Biotech as a leader in advanced nutrition.
  • Value Proposition Creation : Develop unique, compelling value propositions for customers across multiple sectors and verticals.
  • Intelligent Market & Competitive Analysis : Conduct market analysis, competitive evaluation, and customer insight research to guide strategic decisions and position products for success.
  • Stakeholder & Customer Relationship Management : Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders; collaborate with R&D and operations to align product innovation with market needs; drive customer engagement and partnerships.
  • New Customer Acquisition & Sales Channel Growth : Lead efforts to acquire new customers and expand sales channels; manage relationships with distributors, partners, and customers.
  • Global Vision : Identify international opportunities and lead initiatives to establish PFx Biotech presence in key regions.
  • Fundraising Support : Provide data-driven marketing analysis and insights to support fundraising; collaborate with leadership to position PFx Biotech to investors.
  • Product Launch : Lead go-to-market strategies for PFx Biotech bioactive specialty proteins, ensuring broad market acceptance and strong competitive positioning.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record in business development, sales, or strategic partnerships in biotechnology, ingredients, food, or life sciences.
  • Global mindset with experience in B2B food and non-food ingredient markets internationally.
  • Experience launching bioactive ingredients is a plus.
  • Strong commercial acumen with ability to translate technology into market opportunities; cross-functional collaboration with R&D, product development, and executive leadership.
  • Established network in nutrition, wellness, and specialty ingredient sectors.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, relationship-building, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset; ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Track record of building and scaling business operations, launching new products, and entering new markets.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in market and competitive analysis; ability to develop and implement strategic growth initiatives with measurable results.
  • Ability to support fundraising activities through marketing insights and data-driven strategies.
